The Cultural Phenomenon Takes Over Habbo Hotel: Origins!
If you have been online at any point in the past week, it is extremely likely that you have seen the influx of newly admitted Hogwarts students proudly representing their new house colors. For many Habbos, the opening of Hogwarts is an opportunity to relive oldschool nostalgia... but others may be confused by the hype or unsure of how to join in on the fun!
While the event has only just begun, there is already an extremely diverse catalogue of activities to engage any user - immersive roleplay, puzzles, trivia, scavenger hunts, room building competitions, leaderboards, team bonding, tarot card "divination" bots, and more. At launch, this seems to be the most interactive and expansive player-led event yet!
We asked G30, one of Hogwarts' most dedicated students what her experience has been like as a student in the notorious Syltherin House. Here is what she shared:
Hogwarts has been a truly wanderful experience so far. I've loved every second of it, from the highs to the unhexpected lows. It's so clear that this entire event has been charmed with attention to detail, with every potion of planning mixed to perfection. Compared to other events led by The Ministry of Habbo, this one has run like clockwork, smoother than a well-cast killing curse. You have the controversial Slytherpuff alliance, the Gryffin-snores... Need I say more? And the Ravenclaws, a big ol' bunch of know-it-alls. It's just a shame they don't know how to shut up. Together, we make Hogwarts, and I wouldn't trade this experience for a firebolt!
The hotel has been rampant with excitement over the past week, so we sat down with Mystic, the creator of Origins' most exciting development since ProfessorOak unleashed havok on the hotel several months ago, to answer some questions.
Q1: Tell us a bit about yourself - anything you want to share! Who is the man behind the castle? Hi, I’m Mystic! I’m from the Netherlands and joined Habbo.nl back in 2005. I’m someone who loves bringing joy to others and ensuring that everyone around me has a great time. Creating fun and memorable experiences for people is something I’m truly passionate about.
Q2: What was your inspiration for creating Hogwarts in Origins? My inspiration goes back to my time on Habbo.nl, where a user named @bikkel@ built a Hogwarts-themed project in the hotel. While it didn’t feature an event like the one we have now, I fell in love with the beautifully designed rooms and the immersive roleplaying aspect of the project. That experience stayed with me and inspired me to bring a more interactive and engaging version of Hogwarts to life in Origins.
Q3: We’ve seen a huge increase in energy and excitement because of your creation, but that often means a lot of work for an organizer. How are you managing your role while still finding time to do fun things? It’s true that running this event takes a lot of energy, but I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of my team. Their dedication and hard work make everything possible. The beginning phase of a project like this is always the most demanding, but as things progress and settle down, it becomes easier to manage. That balance allows me to focus on both organizing and enjoying the event alongside everyone else.
Q4: Do you have any exciting upcoming plans you can share with the hotel – even just a hint? For now, I can share that there’s so much more to come in this event! We’re currently only in Phase 1 of 3, so there’s plenty of excitement ahead. Along the way, you can expect something mysterious and dark to unfold, adding even more intrigue to the experience. I can also reveal that plans for a Season 2 are already in the works. This means Origins Hogwarts won’t disappear after this event—it’s just the beginning of something even bigger!
Q5: Do you have any parting words for the Habbos reading this article? I want to express my deep gratitude to the community for embracing this event so warmly. I truly hope that everyone is enjoying the experience as much as me and my team are. It’s been amazing to see such enthusiasm!
