Recently, Habbzy's Macca and Ells. had the honor of interviewing one of the most iconic leaders in Habbo Hotel (.com) history – Jeffoo! Maybe you remember her as the fearless leader of Jeffoo’s Foo Fighters during Streets of Bobba, carrying a Boogie Banning stick to challenge her fellow staffers for Kedo’s “vacated” Hotel Manager position; however, most will fondly remember her as the kind and engaging Community Manager that defined our collective adolescence in the Hotel. With juuuuust a few years under our belts since then, we are so excited to get to know a little more about her now as a fellow game-loving peer.
Q: Why the name “Jeffoo”?
A: “When my sister was younger, she couldn’t pronounce my name – Jennifer – and called me “Jeffoo”!”
Q: What brought you to Habbo Hotel?
A: “I started Habbo in 2004, before the website launched, and left in 2010. I loved the idea of building community and the vintage style, with pixelated characters, was clever. Habbo Hotel created a space where young people could be creative in a safe and empowering environment, and I was so excited to work on it with the rest of Sulake.”
Q: What did you enjoy most about working with Sulake?
A: “I loved working with Brojo – we were like a duo back in the day! My generation/group took what Sulake started and ran with it. I often think about my career over the years and working for Sulake is right up there at the top because it felt so positive, and everyone was truly working together for the same goal. I got to travel and meet people I am still good friends with all around the globe. I met one of my lifelong friends at Headquarters and even went to her wedding!”
Q: What is your favorite Habbo Hotel memory?
A: “I loved TGIFs! My first jobs were in the entertainment industry – Atlantic Records and Mercury Records, for example, so I promoted artists I felt strongly about and loved seeing people come in and party with me. I made music fun and would educate while we all got up and danced. I wanted kids to enjoy themselves after school, their homework, etc.”
Q: How do you feel about Habbo Origins?
A: “Brilliant! It is such a nostalgic feeling, although also frustrating at times. As a manger I had access to all the stuff and now I’m a newbie again! It’s so difficult when my hand is empty! Haha, but seriously, I’m very happy to be back and a part of my old community.”
Jeffoo shared with us that she loves when former players tell her about how much of an impact she had on them – and the community – because it’s wholesome and heartwarming… so don’t be a stranger if you see her wandering the halls of Habbo Origins. It seems clear to us that no matter what our role was in 2005, player or staff, we are all excited to be back in Habbo Hotel!
We look forward to bringing you more Spotlights featuring the Hotel’s best Habbos - past and present - in the future. Stay tuned!
